Pastor Debra Hunter
Biographical Sketch of
Dr. Debra Hunter, Pastor
Pastor Debra Hunter is a woman after God’s own heart. Born to William Hunter and Kizzie Hodges, Pastor Hunter grew up in Baltimore City, graduating from Mergenthaler High School. She is the proud mother of one daughter, Shakia Paylor.
Pastor Hunter began matriculating through her theological studies at Baltimore School of the Bible and received her certificate in Old Testament and New Testament Studies. In June 2015, Pastor Hunter completed her doctoral studies at Philadelphia Seminary Institute earning a Doctorate of Theology.
Being a servant first, Pastor Hunter began preparing herself for the call God had on her life serving at New Fellowship Christian Community Church under the leadership of Bishop Kevin A. Rogers. At New Fellowship, she served on the choir, directed the youth choir, and incorporated the praise & worship team. Pastor Hunter also served as an usher, exhorter, and pastor assistant.
Accepting the call on her life in 1993, she excelled through the Christian Community Church’s ecumenical fellowship becoming licensed as an ordained minister. After two years of serving as a minister, she was then appointed by Bishop Rogers as one of the first three elders ordained in the history of the church.
After years of prayer, Pastor Hunter heard the Lord’s calling as she moved her membership under the leadership of Bishop Carl H. Montgomery II at Greater Grace Harvest Church. During her nine years of service, Pastor Hunter was appointed as an associate pastor of Greater Grace where she worked diligently. She nurtured, cultivated, and developed into the leader she is today.
God in His infinite wisdom strategically prepared Pastor Hunter for such a time as this, promoting her to pastor and founder of Renew Hope Praise and Worship Ministries in 2010. Pastor Hunter has an unorthodox style of ministry that allows for the voiceless to assemble on one accord in the presence of the Lord. She is a dedicated woman of God with compassion, love, and grace. Pastor Hunter is a woman of strength in the face of adversity.
As the Lord’s spirit leads her ministry, Pastor Hunter’s congregation continues to flourish. The vision of her ministry calls for the renewing of the inner man, rescuing the sinner man, and restoring the outer man. She is committed to her duty as a servant of the Lord. Her spiritual credo falls within the words of Apostle Paul, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.” Philippians 3:13.
